Boca Raton Chiropractor Dr. Lee Smith
When I was a boy, my best friend's mom went to a Chiropractor for some sort of pain. She came home feeling much better and I asked what shot he gave her. A shot is all I thought doctors did, seeing as that is all they had ever done to me at that time. She said he "cracked" her back and neck. All I can remember is thinking, "What does that quack know about helping someone? He did not even give her a shot!" I was influenced by what I knew a doctor did to me and from what I had heard from others. Truthfully, I had no idea what a Chiropractor was or did. Thankfully, I was not forever influenced by others.
In college I gravitated toward the natural sciences field; it just seemed to make sense to me. I even worked in the biology lab for some extra income. When I was close to graduating I knew that I did not want to work in a research lab all my life. I wanted to do something to help others, but I was not sure what field I wanted to do it in. Innately I have never thought of taking a pill or removing a body part as healthy. I figured we have survived on this planet for centuries before medicine was around so our bodies must be built pretty complete; there is no lack of Tylenol in anybody - I don't care what the television says. So I started researching health care fields that helped others without drugs and/or surgery. What I discovered was only a couple of paths, be an Osteopath or a Chiropractor. During my research I found that these two fields are very similar in their philosophy, in that they both believe the body has it's own natural healing ability. Further research led me to find out that Osteopaths started to lose their intial philosophy and take on the philosophy of current medical doctors. Now a days you can't tell the difference between an Osteopath and a Medical Doctor. That left me with only one choice, becoming a Chiropractor, and I was not 100 % sure of what I was getting into. But at least I would be helping people without drugs and/or surgery. And of course after a few classes, I soon found out that I was in the right place!
I chose to go to Life Chiropractic College in Marietta, Georgia for purely selfish reasons. It was close to my mother!
I hope to teach all of my patients the importance of whole body wellness. I find it especially gratifying to work with infants, toddlers, and children. Teaching children to care for their bodies is a very important life long lesson!
My beautiful wife, Tami, is my office manager. We have two sons, Blaine and Rider, who are full of life. I enjoy spending my free time racing jet skis. I have competed in various events and won several State and National Titles.
As a Chiropractor knowing the importance of proper alignment, I receive Chiropractic adjustments quite regularly from a colleague. Without regular adjustments, I don't know how I would be able to care for my own patients!
